In the IT world, when one hears the word “compliance,” it is a reminder of the days when your big brother lurked around the corners of the house trying to scare you. Most of the time, he wasn’t there, but when you finally let your guard down, he would nail you. It is the exact same way with compliance. The minute you let your guard down, you’re going to get drilled. Aware that the last few years had seen the adoption of over 10,000 compliance regulations worldwide, to include SOX, SEC, NASD and HIPAA, iGo realized it needed to upgrade its existing systems. In general terms, compliance is based on 1) Permanence - data must be maintained in an original and unaltered state; 2) Security - data must be safeguarded against all threats; and 3) Ability to Audit - data must be easily accessible by authorized personnel, when necessary. In order to better meet these terms, iGo needed to migrate from its current platform, to a more advanced system that ensures regulatory compliance, specifically with regard to sensitive employee data, e-mail and accounting information.
Last year, iGo generated $77 million in revenue, and worked with some of the largest mobile/smart phone and laptop manufacturers in the world. IGo has built its success on developing and selling products that allow individuals to conduct business on the go. As its business began to grow, so did the concerns regarding data. iGo needed an IT solution that possessed many of the same characteristics that made the Company successful…fast, reliable, scalable and easy to maintain.
According to Frank Tanner, iGo systems engineer, “We needed a system that was simple to use and could instantly integrate with our backup environment. We called upon Chris Anderson, our Custom Storage representative for his consultation. Anderson advised us to purchase a single, self-contained unit that was not only extremely cost-effective, but also highly efficient.”
“We recommended a system that could backup and replicate data as well as store, encrypt and compress - all in a single step from multiple sites around the world, to one central location,” said Anderson.
“Custom Storage not only recommended the ideal solution, it assisted in the installation and integration of the system into our existing network with zero down time and zero impact to operations,” said Tanner. “Custom Storage also helped us set up our automated backup policy and encryption procedures. The entire installation was under budget, ahead of schedule and flawless in execution.”
